Getting Here & Parking
Blyth’s South Beach is an easy day out — and, since the Northumberland Line reopened, an easy one without a car. The beach car parks are free, but fill fast on sunny days.
Getting here
Trains run from Newcastle Central to Newsham station (on the reopened Northumberland Line) in under 20 minutes — about a mile from South Beach. By car, it’s roughly 25 minutes from Newcastle via the A189 Spine Road.
Parking (it’s free)
The Mermaid and South Beach car parks serve the seafront directly; Links Road car park (free, with toilets) is handy for the beach huts and the dog-friendly southern beach. Ridley Park has its own free car park too.
