Corporate Christmas Party Venues in Blyth
Where a Blyth business can actually book the works Christmas do: sports club function rooms, a waterfront inn, a members' club bar and restaurants that will take a long table.
Booking the works Christmas do in Blyth means working with what is actually here, and what is here is better than the town's reputation suggests. There is no conference hotel and no purpose-built events suite. Instead there are sports clubs with big rooms and their own bars, a waterfront inn with bedrooms above the restaurant, a members' club that has hosted Blyth's parties for decades, and restaurants that will take a private room or a long table.
The questions a corporate buyer needs answered are the same everywhere: capacity, exclusive use or a share of the public bar, sit-down or buffet, and what time the lights come on. Festive menus and prices reset every year, so treat this as a shortlist to ring rather than a price list.
Blyth Golf Club
The refurbished 1905 Bar at Blyth Golf Club at New Delaval is the most straightforward large room in Blyth, holding up to 120 guests, with windows onto the course and a large free car park. Catering is a choice to suit your budget rather than a fixed festive list, so you talk a buffet or a sit-down menu through with the hospitality team on 01670 540110, option 5. For a company of 40 to 100 it is the obvious first call: one room, one bar, one car park.
Best for: Best for a works party of 40 to 100 wanting one room to itself and easy parking.
Blyth Cricket and Rugby Club
Blyth Cricket & Rugby Club on Plessey Road has the largest room on this list, advertised for up to around 200, with its own bar. Parking is the catch: only a handful of spaces sit at the front, so guests use the surrounding streets. Hire, bar and catering are arranged directly with the club on 01670 352063.
Best for: Best for the biggest parties, or small firms clubbing together, if street parking suits.
Commissioners Quay Inn
The Commissioners Quay Inn on Quay Road is the closest thing Blyth has to a hotel Christmas do. The Inn Collection Group runs a festive programme of seasonal dining and Christmas breaks each year, and the inn takes group bookings, so a reserved section of the restaurant is a realistic shape for a party of a dozen to thirty. The forty en-suite bedrooms are the real advantage: anyone travelling in, or who should not be driving home, can stay put, and parking is free. Ask how large a group they will hold a section for, and whether choices must be pre-ordered.
Best for: Best for a smarter sit-down meal where some of the party needs a bed.
The Seahorse
The Seahorse on Plessey Road pairs a function room with twelve bedrooms and a kitchen best known locally for its carvery, which puts it between a restaurant table and a bare hall. Parking is free and the bar and restaurant share the building. Bookings are taken on 01670 353650 or by WhatsApp.
Best for: Best for a relaxed carvery-style party of 30 to 60 with rooms on site.
Blyth Sports & Social Club
Blyth Sports & Social Club on Coomassie Road is the traditional choice: a members' co-operative with a good-value bar, a function room for private hire and a long habit of live acts, bingo and darts. For a workforce paying its own way it will almost certainly be the cheapest room in town. Being a members' club, speak to the committee about hire, guest access and catering.
Best for: Best for a big, informal, pay-at-the-bar party where cost per head rules.
A long table instead of a function room
Plenty of Blyth teams are ten or fifteen people, too few for a function room and too many for a casual table. Asmara Indian Cuisine & Cocktail Lounge on Freehold Street has a private room off the main dining room, runs banquet nights and is part of a local catering business, so larger groups can be handled. La Torre on Waterloo Road is the town-centre Italian for two or three courses within walking distance of the Bridge Street bars afterwards. Breeze Lounge at South Beach trades until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays and can be taken for private events.
Best for: Best for teams of 8 to 20 who want a proper meal, not a room and a disco.
Something different at Croft Park
For an afternoon out rather than a party night, Blyth Spartans AFC sells matchday hospitality at Croft Park from fifty pounds a head, taking parties of two upwards. That covers the directors' lounge from ninety minutes before kick-off, seats in the directors' box in the Port of Blyth stand, hot food before the game and up to five drinks a person.
Best for: Best for a small team who would sooner watch the Spartans than sit through a disco.
Widening the search past the town boundary
Blyth's pool of function rooms is genuinely small: past the golf club and the cricket and rugby club, the next tier is restaurants and bars rather than halls. Bedlington is fifteen minutes away. Bedlingtonshire Golf Club at Acorn Bank on Hartford Road has a clubhouse lounge and dining room overlooking the closing holes, caters a finger buffet through to three courses, takes private dinners and meetings as well as parties, and has its own car park.
Best for: Best for a party of up to around 80 happy with a short drive out of town.
What to settle before you commit
Four questions close most bookings. Is the room exclusively yours, or shared with the public bar. Is the charge a room hire, a minimum spend, or purely per head for food. What time does the bar close, and what time must you be out. And if there is a pre-order, how far ahead must the choices be in.
None of these venues is an events business with a sales team, so booking is a phone call, not an online form. That helps on price and flexibility, but December Saturdays go to whoever rings first.
