About John Grenfell & Son

John Grenfell & Son is a long-established independent funeral directors on Sussex Street in Blyth, drawing on four generations of undertaking experience. The firm traces its roots to D. Davies, established in 1880, and describes itself as one of the few genuinely independent, family-run funeral directors remaining in the town. Led by managing director John Lisle Grenfell alongside a small team, it offers help and support around the clock, every day of the year.

The firm handles traditional funerals, cremations and burials, with a private chapel of rest where families can spend time with a loved one, and offers pre-paid funeral plans for those who wish to make arrangements in advance. Its long history in Blyth means deep familiarity with the town's churches, cemeteries and the local crematoria, and a reputation built on dignity, discretion and personal service. Families are welcome to call to discuss options and request a written estimate.
