About 8th Blyth (Ridley) Sea Scouts

The 8th Blyth (Ridley) Sea Scouts are based at their Neptune headquarters on Fulmar Drive on the South Beach Estate, a short walk from the seafront, and form part of the Blyth Valley Scout District within Northumberland Scouts. As a Sea Scout group they follow the same national Scouting programme as other groups but with a maritime flavour, and run sections from the youngest Squirrels through Beavers for ages 6 to 8, Cubs for ages 8 to 10 and a half, and a Scout troop for ages 10 and a half to 14, with sessions spread across the week during term time.

Alongside the usual mix of games, badges, camps and community projects, the coastal setting lends itself to water-based activities and time outdoors. The group is run entirely by volunteers, and as with every Scout group it is the supply of adult leaders and helpers that most often determines how many young people each section can take. Families can find the current section nights and register through the Scouts group finder or the Blyth Valley Scout District, and anyone interested in helping is warmly encouraged to get in touch, with full training provided.
