About Di Meo's Whitley Bay
Di Meo’s is an award-winning family gelato business whose Whitley Bay parlour, at 9 Marine Avenue, lies about fifteen minutes south of Blyth along the coast. The family’s story dates back to 1918, when founder Isidoro Di Meo travelled from southern Italy to the North East and began making ice cream; the business was later revived by subsequent generations and expanded into parlours from 2001, winning national ice cream and Great Taste awards along the way.
The parlour serves the family’s gelato in classic and inventive flavours that change regularly, alongside a vegan and dairy-free range, in a cosy, family-friendly setting. While it is in Whitley Bay rather than Blyth, it is an easy trip down the coast and a long-standing North East name for quality Italian-style gelato.
