Best Chinese & Thai Restaurants in Blyth
China City, Tasty Wok, and Sky Guest Diner -- the best Chinese food in Blyth, plus the Thai situation.
Blyth's Chinese food scene is dominated by takeaways, but there is one proper sit-down restaurant on King Street and a handful of well-regarded takeaway kitchens across the town. Thai options are limited, but China City covers some of that ground. Here is the guide.
China City
China City at 4 King Street is Blyth's main Chinese restaurant, offering both dine-in and takeaway. Formerly known as Treasure Thai & Chinese, the restaurant rebranded but kept its broad menu covering Cantonese classics, Szechuan dishes, and set meals. Chicken and sweetcorn soup, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, beef in Szechuan style, and sesame prawn toast all feature. The restaurant also retains some Thai dishes from its previous incarnation. Order online through their website for 15 per cent off orders over forty pounds. It is the only place in Blyth where you can sit down for a proper Chinese meal.
Best for: Sit-down dining, Chinese and Thai menu, online discount.
Tasty Wok
Tasty Wok at 29 Cowpen Hall Road is one of the most consistently praised Chinese takeaways in Blyth. Reviewers highlight the flavoursome dishes, generous portions, and friendly staff. The munchy boxes and crispy chicken are particular favourites, and the menu is large enough to satisfy a range of tastes. Prices are reasonable and the service is quick. Available on Just Eat and Foodhub for delivery, or collect directly from the shop.
Best for: Generous portions, munchy boxes, quick and friendly service.
Sky Guest Diner
Sky Guest Diner at 6 Bondicar Terrace combines traditional Chinese flavours with a modern touch. The menu covers the familiar ground of spring rolls, sweet and sour, curry, and rice dishes, but the kitchen takes care with each dish. Collection and delivery are available via their website. A solid option for the east side of town.
Best for: Modern take on Chinese classics, collection and delivery.
A Note on Thai
There is no dedicated Thai restaurant currently operating in Blyth. China City's menu includes some Thai-influenced dishes carried over from its Treasure Thai days, which is the closest option in town. For a fully authentic Thai meal, Nadon Thai in Morpeth is around 20 minutes by car.
