Skate Parks Near Blyth
Isabella Skatepark, Cramlington, and more — the best skateparks near Blyth for all abilities.
Blyth has never had better provision for skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter users. The opening of Isabella Skatepark in early 2025 gave the town a proper, purpose-built facility for the first time, and there are several more parks within easy reach across south-east Northumberland. Here's the full picture.
Isabella Skatepark, Blyth
The Isabella Skatepark on Ogle Drive is Blyth's own dedicated skatepark, and it opened in February 2025 after a collaborative effort between Blyth Town Council and Northumberland County Council. The park was designed and built by Wheelscape, a specialist skatepark construction firm, with support from Shred the North.
The park caters to skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter users of all ages and abilities. It's a concrete park with a good mix of features, designed to be accessible to beginners while offering enough variety to keep experienced riders interested.
Best for: Isabella Skatepark opened in February 2025 and is the result of a 220,000-pound investment by Blyth Town Council and Northumberland County Council.
The location is well served by the nearby Isabella Community Centre, which has an overflow car park. If you're driving, be mindful of parking considerately for local residents on surrounding streets.
Cramlington Skatepark
About eight miles south of Blyth, Cramlington Skatepark in Alexandra Park is a large, all-concrete park that opened in 2008. Designed by Gravity Engineering, it was built to a specification capable of hosting national competitions.
The park combines transition and street elements. The main section features a kinked rectangular bowl with a flat bottom and metal coping, alongside a series of flat banks and quarter pipes with a stair set, pole jam, extension, taco, hubbas, and rails. There's also a raised plaza-style area with ledges, manual pads, and additional hubbas and rails. It's a serious park with plenty of variety.
Best for: Cramlington Skatepark was built to national competition standard -- one of the best concrete parks in Northumberland.
Ashington Skatepark
Roughly ten miles north-west of Blyth, Ashington Skatepark was designed and built by Wheelscape and opened in 2012. It's another all-concrete park, located near the town centre and offering a mix of transition and street features. If you want a change of scenery from your usual local park, it's well worth a visit.
Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Skatepark
About seven miles north of Blyth along the coast, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea has a more modest skatepark made up of metal ramps on a tarmac base. It's a simpler setup than the concrete parks at Cramlington and Isabella, but it's free, open-access, and perfectly fine for a casual session -- especially if you're already in the area.
Amble Skatepark
Further up the coast, roughly twenty miles north of Blyth, Amble Skatepark is located at the Welfare Park playing fields on Acklington Road. It's a worthwhile destination if you're combining a skate session with a day out on the Northumberland coast.
Morpeth Skatepark
Around fifteen miles west of Blyth, Morpeth Skatepark is an all-concrete park located beside the tennis courts in Carlisle Park. The park setting is attractive, right on the edge of the River Wansbeck, and Morpeth itself is a pleasant market town with plenty of cafes and shops if you need to refuel.
Tips for New Skaters
If you or your children are just getting started, Isabella Skatepark is the obvious first choice -- it's local, purpose-built for all abilities, and relatively new. For more experienced riders looking for a challenge, Cramlington's competition-standard park is hard to beat.
All of the parks listed here are free and open-access. Helmets and pads are strongly recommended, especially for younger riders. Most parks are busiest after school and at weekends, so early mornings and weekday daytimes tend to be quieter if you prefer a less crowded session.
