Tenancy agreement: Blyth Town Council publishes a formal tenancy agreement covering plot maintenance, permitted structures, water usage, and conduct.

What People Grow

Blyth's coastal position means wind can be a factor, but the soil on most sites is good. Standard allotment crops do well: potatoes, onions, leeks, brassicas, runner beans, beetroot, carrots, and soft fruit. Polytunnels and windbreaks help with more tender crops. The town's pit village heritage means many allotment holders have family traditions of growing that stretch back generations.

Community Growing

The Allotment Community Blyth Facebook group connects local growers for advice, seed swaps, and surplus sharing. It is a good first step if you are new to allotments or have just joined the waiting list.

Friends of Ridley Park maintain growing areas and green spaces in Ridley Park, offering a community gardening experience without needing a formal plot.
