About This Event
The Stephenson Steam Railway opens its 2026 season with heritage train rides along the short but charming line at Middle Engine Lane in North Shields. Run entirely by volunteers, the railway offers a glimpse into the region's industrial past with lovingly restored steam and diesel locomotives. It is a perfect family-friendly outing — children love the train rides, and the volunteer crew are passionate and knowledgeable about the locomotives and their history. The railway runs every Saturday from 14 June to 30 August, making it an easy repeat visit throughout the summer. Part of the North East Museums group alongside Woodhorn and the Discovery Museum.
